For a divination experiment, a spectator grabs a shuffled deck and the magician turns his back. First, the spectator cuts to a “leader ” card that is placed face up in the deck. He stares at his card as the magician establishes a mental connection with him. The magician concentrates and notes on his business card what the color of the playing card may be. One chance out of two but it is just the beginning.

Then, the magician explains that he still needs two other cards and the “leader ” card will help lead us to them. The spectator spells the value of the leader card, counting one card for one letter in a pile . He does the same with the leader’s suit in another pile. The spectator turns the top card of the left pile face up and stares at it as the magician concentrates and notes what the value of the card may be. It is a little harder this time.

Finally, the spectator turns the top card of the right pile face up and stares at it as the magician concentrates and notes what the card (value and suit) may be. This is getting serious. The deck is gathered. The magician faces the spectator again and spreads the deck face up to outjog the face-down selections The cards are finally compared with his business card:. Every answer is accurate!

Use any regular deck. No duplicates. No sleights. No peek. No thumb writer. At the end, the spectator’s cards are turned face up after the prediction card has been tabled.
